Mourne Game and Wildfowl was set-up to facitate and to enhance the area of Mill Bay, and surrounding areaswhich is just out side Kilkeel (map61kbs) Co.Down, Northern Ireland. This is where the Mountains of Mourne sweep down to thesea.
The Club is affiliated to BASC [The British Association for Shooting and Conservation] and that the mandatory "Duck Stamp" is supported by all members. And we gladly accept the emphasis being put on habitat protection.
Mourne Game and W.C.A. functions are to:-)
Maitain and enhance shooting in the Mill Bay area.
To encourage a high standard, of behaviour and sportsmanship.
To provide refuges for migrant fowl and waders that boost the native population each winter.
And meet head-on any threat to undermine
or curtail traditional pursuits.
I have
listed most of the
Birds
that
I,
(and my co-author of this page "club member") believe to inhabbit
Mill Bay shore and surrounding area. And we would be grateful, that
any help we get in the setting up and maintaining a bird count on the
shore.
The Mourne area of which Kilkeel harbour (photo from air 56kbs)boasts the largest fishing fleet (photo of boats78kbs) in Ireland. The port is a hive of activity and well worth a visit to capture the colourful and picturesque setting.
